Unmatched Versatility: Single or Dual-Channel Flexibility

While our classic DG2A Train/Delay Generator has served research labs for years, the SPP-400 introduces a major leap forward by offering single or two-channel operation.

Having a second output channel dramatically expands your experimental capabilities:

  • Independent Dual Triggering: Use the channels in isolation so a single external input or button press triggers two separate devices with distinct timing parameters simultaneously.

  • Delayed Second Pulses: Use Channel 2 to insert a second, delayed pulse following each pulse generated by Channel 1, smoothly replicating the core delay functionality of the DG2A.

  • Complex Burst Protocols: Link the input of Channel 2 to the output of Channel 1 to deliver repeating trains or bursts of pulses with complete control over frequency, pulse count, duration, delay, and output voltage. What previously required a pair of DG2A units or our modular NeuroLog System can now be accomplished in a single compact device.

One of the key challenges with analog dial controls is returning to exact settings between experimental trials. The SPP-400 solves this by switching entirely to digital controls, enabling researchers to dial in timing parameters with exact precision.

  • On-Board Protocol Manager: Store up to eight pre-set protocols or configurations directly on the unit. Recall your most frequently used parameters instantly, eliminating setup errors and safeguarding between-trial reproducibility.

  • Four Core Operating Modes: Operates seamlessly in Free Run, Gated, Single, or Train modes.

  • Future-Ready Virtual GUI: We are currently developing a Windows-compatible virtual front-panel GUI that will mirror the physical front panel controls on your PC screen for even greater ease of use.


Flexible Input & Trigger Options

Whether you are interfacing with a Data Acquisition (DAQ) system or using manual switches, the SPP-400 adapts to your existing laboratory hardware:

  • External BNC Input: Features an adjustable voltage threshold (-10V to +10V) supporting three distinct input modes:

    • Triggered: Initiates an output protocol on the rising or falling edge of a brief digital pulse.

    • Gated On/Off: Keeps the output active only while the input voltage exceeds your set threshold.

    • Trigger On, Trigger Off: Toggles the output state with successive incoming pulses.

  • Manual & Contact Switches: Includes a front-panel manual trigger button and full compatibility with external hand and foot switches.

  • Built-in De-Bounce Control: An optional de-bounce setting prevents accidental multi-triggering when using mechanical contact-closure switches.
